MARSHALS'
GLOBAL LOGISTICS
With
the advent of dot coms, virtual stores,
B2b exchanges and the Internet, political
geography is almost becoming history: business
is being transacted across borders at electronic
speeds, leading to increased pressure on
the manufacturer, distributor and retailer.
And Companies are increasingly finding it
advantageous to provide an integrated electronic
interface between not just employees but
business partners and customers too.
Nevertheless
e-business has not changed the fundamentals
of an operation, but what has changed is
the way business is transacted: virtual
world still has to be sustained through
effective interplay of physical infrastructural
resources.
Enter
Logistics - it is now a means of competitive
advantage that has led companies to focus
increases attention on this vital area.
Elaborate manufacturer-supplier chains now
straddle the global industrial landscape,
leading to emergence of specialised Third
Party Logistics service providers (3PLs)
and even 4PLs. And Marshals' foresees tremendous
growth potential in this sphere, even within
India.
Contemporary
Logistics encompasses a whole gamut of specialised
operations and related information services,
starting from business process re-engineering
