VEIC and Marshals' Supersoft Technologies Ltd. (MSS) from India, authorised exclusive partner of Telecommunications Consultants India Ltd. (TCIL), signed a Memorandum of Understanding, for setting up a model IT training centre in Haiphong city, today. The proposed centre will train over five hundred students in the first year itself. Subsequently the centres will be replicated in other cities of Vietnam in a phased manner.

VEIC will provide the foreign partner with infrastructure, administrative facilities and will also be responsible for all promotional activities for this centre. Marshals' Supersoft Technologies Ltd and TCIL will provide technical support with faculty and course material, which has been designed to ISO 9002 standards. On completion of the course, the student will get a joint certificate which is internationally validated. The student can then be eligible for appearing for any international certification like Cisco or Microsoft.

The institute will offer courses ranging from six months to three years. The courses include specialised courses, bachelor of computer application, C & C++, JAVA etc, and others. The courses will be open for students at pre-university level, university level and also are aimed at working professionals seeking upgradation. The course curriculum will incorporate IT related English as well to enable students to keep abreast with international terminologies to facilitate quick assimilation into the international workforce. Unlike other companies which follow the franchisee route, MSS-TCIL believes in operating it's own centres to maintain quality of it's services.

Both sides fully understand the implications of the Directive of the Vietnamese Government to provide IT Education to 50,000 students by the year 2005. They also understand that this training is only the foundation for a much bigger objective of opening and operating internationally recognised software development parks and providing international employment opportunities to Vietnamese professionals. The foundation of this MoU rests on realising this objective.

The Prime Minister of India, on his recent visit to Vietnam in January this year announced a grant of USD 2.5 million for IT education initiatives for the Vietnamese students. TCIL and VEIC being owned by their respective Governments have also taken up the initiative of concretising this objective along with MSS.
